Get ready for two unforgettable days as a powerful new event comes to Casper! The inaugural MHA Indian Relay Races – Battle for the Rockies takes over the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds September 19–20 for an incredible weekend of speed, tradition, culture and competition.
Indian Relay Racing is unlike anything else in the world. Often called America's original extreme sport, Indian Relay combines incredible horsemanship, speed, athleticism, and teamwork with generations of Native tradition.
Teams race bareback around the track, making lightning-fast horse exchanges while teammates work together to send their rider back into the race. The exchanges happen in seconds, the competition is fierce, and once you've experienced Indian Relay from the grandstands, you'll understand why it has become one of the most exciting events in horse racing.
But this year's Battle for the Rockies is about more than what happens on the track.

Make a day of it and experience the traditions and culture surrounding Indian Relay Racing in our Indian Village at the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds.
Before the horses hit the track, explore a gathering designed to allow spectators to experience Native culture beyond the competition.
The Indian Village will feature traditional tipis, Native dancers and singers, Native vendors and artisans, and an MHA Tourism presence, creating a place for visitors to gather, learn, and experience the culture and traditions connected to Indian Relay.
Come early, explore the Village, meet the people behind the traditions, and experience another side of this incredible weekend.
