North Platte River Flood
June 15th, 2010

The Bureau of Reclamation regulates the flow of the north Platte River. the Bureau is required to increase the amount of water it is releasing in response to rising levels upstream. Most of the river dams are currently near or at capacity, and with the continuing rains in the eastern portion of the state, water levels are expected to continue to rise.

Residents who live near the river should begin preparations to protect their property and well being. No evacuation recommendations have been issued at this time, but residents who live near the river should have a plan in place in case an evacuation recommendation is issued.

It is strongly recommended that people avoid all water recreation for the time being, including fishing, boating & river floating.
